The congregation has been eagerly donating laundry detergent for our September 9 food distribution and to date, we need only 42 more bottles. Way to go, Grace! At the request of the Parish Education Committee, the food pantry and parish education will partner for Harvest Home Sunday and are asking members to donate cans of tuna or Spam for our Thanksgiving distribution. The cans will be displayed in the sanctuary as part of the Harvest Home service. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could reach the ceiling? Seriously, that would be physically impossible but we could certainly measure the depth of the cans and add up the inches to see if we could reach to the top. Talk about a high point in our mission of service to others.
For the sanctuary set-up on September 8, we will feed you lunch in the kitchen beginning at 11:30 a.m. After eating, we will go upstairs to begin putting out the items for the Yard Sale Ministry. If that doesn’t work for your schedule, you can come back to the church at 1:00 p.m., and join us in the sanctuary for fun and fellowship. Many hands make the task small so if lots of helpers arrive, we could possibly be done by 2:00 p.m. If you have never seen this part of our outreach, you definitely need to come and watch God’s servants at work.
Our next packing dates are October 19 and 26 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the food pantry room. Our August 17 packing event welcomed our old timers but thankfully many newcomers. Your help is always greatly appreciated since we are now packing boxes for 270 families. Because each family gets five boxes, you can see that we are easily over 1000 boxes that need to be filled for every distribution.
