Adult Choir

ChoirIn the United States, choral singing is the most popular of all arts-related participatory activities. Across the country, 28.5 million people regularly sing in one of 250,000 chorus groups. There may be a very good reason why: Singing simply makes happy!

The act of singing releases endorphins, the brain’s “feel good” chemicals. Several scientific studies have shown that especially choral singers are considerably more satisfied with their lives, have fewer anxieties and are more upbeat than the general public.

The intense and highly regular breathing required while singing is a healthy aerobic activity. Learning new songs and focusing on the task keeps the brain highly active, yet the mind off one’s daily sorrows. Singing in front of a crowd builds confidence. And most importantly: choral singers tend to be happier because of their feelings of belonging to a group, of being needed by the other members of that group.

So if you want to be happy, join Grace Lutheran’s Church Choir—or for your kids, the Children’s Choir!

The Adult Choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 7:30 pm to roughly 9:00pm in our church’s sanctuary. New members are always welcome!
