Baptism

Baptism: where it all begins.
The water and the word.
Speaking God’s promise of unconditional love poured onto your head.
Hearing the promises made by parents, sponsors, and the entire assembly to support and help you grow as you are officially welcomed into the one body of Christ.
Seeing the flame on the baptismal candle dance as you are called to “let your light so shine before others that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven”.
Feeling the oil as you are sealed with the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever.

For us as Lutheran Christians, we see baptism as the official start of our lives as followers of Jesus Christ. It is both a gift freely bestowed by God and a calling we respond to in thanksgiving. As you prepare for the baptism of your child (or yourself!) and as you continue to remember your baptism, we hope the following resources will help you grow in your understanding and ways of living into the loving promises that God has made to you in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. If you have more questions or would like for you or your child to be baptized, please talk with Pastor Courtney!
