organJoin Us for an Afternoon of Organ Music!

Have you taken advantage of our free concerts yet? On September 15, enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon with Rodney Barnett in an organ concert. The event begins at 3:00 p.m., with refreshments following the performance.

A Red Lion resident, Barnett is Organist and Choir Director at The Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist in York. Early on, he taught himself to play the piano, but also studied under Margaret Dawson and became a church pianist at a young age.

Barnett holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Penn State and a Master’s in Computer Science from Loyola University in Baltimore. While at Penn State, he studied the organ with June Miller. After moving to York, he eventually continued with Dr. Gene Paul Strayer. Most recently, in 2008, he earned a music degree from Lebanon Valley College, where he studied the organ with Dr. Shelly Moorman-Stahlman.

Barnett is a past dean of the York chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Currently, he is the Director of the York Ecumenical Choral Society, along with his positions at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist.
